Conference „Good practice and recognition of qualifications awarded in the framework of Transnational Education (TNE)”
Conference „Good practice and recognition of qualifications awarded in the framework of Transnational Education (TNE)”, organized by Bureau for Academic Recognition and International Exchange (Polish NARIC), took place in Warsaw on 21st May 2004.
The conference gathered 230 participants, including representatives of 96 state and 105 non-state higher education institutions, and representatives of various official bodies, such as: Central Council of Higher Education, Commission for Academic Degrees and Titles, and ministries supervising higher education institutions, i.e. Ministry of National Education and Sport, Ministry of Infrastructure, Ministry of Culture, Ministry of Internal Affairs and Administration, and Ministry of Health. The conference was co-financed by the European Commission within the framework of Socrates program.
The speakers discussed the following issues:
“Transnational Education: meeting the quality challenge?” - Ms Carolyn Campbell, representative of the Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education (UK)
„Joint degrees in the European Higher Education Area” - prof. dr hab. Jerzy Błażejowski, President of the Central Council of Higher Education
dr Józef Lepiech, Deputy Director of the Department for Higher Education of the Ministry of National Education and Sport
"Recognition issues related to Transnational Education" - Ms Ewa Majdowska, Head of the Polish NARIC, Deputy Director of the Bureau for Academic Recognition and International Exchange
For the needs of the conference, the Bureau for Academic Recognition and International Exchange prepared Polish translations of the documents adopted by the Lisbon Recognition Convention Committee at its second meeting, in Rīga, 6 June 2001, referring to transnational education, which were presented during the conference:
